2nd Runner-up - PES University Hackathon

GENESYS is a state level hackathon hosted by PES University. 865 participants across 218 teams entered, 37 teams made the final 24 hour round, and the top 10 pitched on stage. I competed as Team Greenfinch with Alfiya Fatima and Varsha P, and we finished 2nd runner-up, on the podium in the top 3, for EcoMart.

EcoMart scores how sustainable a product is while you browse it on an e-commerce site, out of 100, and surfaces verified greener alternatives before you buy rather than after. The bet: people will pick the greener option, they just will not open three tabs to find out which one it is.

Tech: Next.js Chrome extension, Firebase, Gemini API.

Two calls that mattered:

• LLM gets all the required info from the page using DOM from all our supported websites
• The score is a weighted model over 16 metrics, carbon, water, recyclability, certifications, toxics, biodegradability and the rest, each also shown on its own, so the number is explainable instead of opaque
